New Feature: Upload Candidates to Your Jobs

February 16, 2012

Upload a candidate to jobs on ZipRecruiter

Now you can upload, share, and rate candidates that you receive from other sources.

Located on your “My Candidates” page in ZipRecruiter, the “Add Candidate” button lets you:

    • Add candidates to any of your ZipRecruiter jobs
    • Upload candidate resumes and important personal information
    • Share and rate candidates
    • Include candidate source for easy tracking (e.g. referral, recruiter, staffing firm)

To make tracking easy, a label identifying which team member uploaded the candidate is automatically created. The labels are a great way to filter candidates by those who were uploaded verses those who applied through Ziprecruiter.

Attention au Détail

January 9, 2012

“This green rug is WICKED.” Unintentional reference to the hit Broadway musical notwithstanding, those were more or less the exact words I whispered to Rachel, whom I just met at ZipRecruiter for the first time not three minutes prior. I nervously shifted my oxford canvas shoes atop the shaggy throw rug, which — if you can imagine a ticklishly retro rectangle of faux suburban lawn grass — undoubtedly eased any pre-interview jitters.

You’d think that an outlandish, avocado-colored piece of flooring accessory would stand out in an office building, but quite the contrary. I barely noticed it once my eyes were magnetically drawn to the matching green wall, no corner of it left unpainted in a shade of topiary-scaped green which above all else screamed vibrancy. Here was a creative space wherein any prior scruples were cannonballed out of mind by a dominantly assuring sense that productivity would no doubt flourish like the striking splashes of color within its enclosure.

This, I told myself, I could get used to.

Several weeks later, the green wall has become my backdrop. Coming from a freelance writing gig and a private tutoring one before that, attention to detail is somewhat of a personally explicit mandate that I require of myself in the workplace. I mention this because that’s the atmosphere I’ve been walking into for the past three days: a space full of meticulously focused intellects who are energetically wired into their specialties.

My concentration? I essentially assist in boosting ZipRecruiter’s online visibility, whether that involves advertising on a micro-market scale or writing copy & contributive content. And you can bet I’m approaching these responsibilities with nothing short of a fastidious mentality. This is what I’ve loved about my first week at ZipRecruiter; it’s the sort of unforgettably prominent attention au détail of every team member that seamlessly cogs together like the well-oiled engine of a classic Aston Martin DB series coupe.

An auspiciously avocado green one.

Finding It All at ZipRecruiter

January 6, 2012

I’m back! Ok, so I haven’t actually worked at ZipRecruiter before, but I have worked with Ian, and Ward (two of the four founders) at two prior companies. So in a way it feels like coming home.

I remember Ian discussing the idea for ZipRecruiter over lunch years ago. It sounded good over tacos, but in the Internet world, ideas come and go like..well, like lunch. Flash forward to January 2012, and here I am with two former coworkers who have become good friends, working on the idea that came and flourished.

It was so exciting to watch ZipRecruiter become a success and now I am thrilled to be a part of the team as Head of Product. Essentially, I am here to figure out what our customers want/need from the service and provide an exceptional, tell-all-your-friends experience. If you love the service, have constructive criticism, want to share ideas, or just need ZipRecruiter to (fill in the blank) to make it so much better, let’s talk. Shoot an email to ken@ziprecruiter.com.

As I get older (not old, just older) it has become clear what’s important in my career…Working with smart people who respect one another, in a company that provides an exceptional product, where I can be challenged and have a work life balance that allows me time to spend with my wife and kids. I know it’s a lot to ask and creates a horrible run-on sentence, but guess what – I actually found it all!

ZipRecruiter Unveils One-Click Social Recruiting

November 8, 2011

(Press Release)

ZipRecruiter debuts simultaneous job posting to LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter with a single click

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 8, 2011 –  ZipRecruiter, a web-based service that enables employers to post to more than 20 of the web’s leading job boards with one submission has announced the addition of a new one-click social recruiting feature.

“We created ZipRecruiter to help hiring managers distribute their job listings to the maximum number of potential candidates in the the minimum amount of time,” said Ian Siegel, Co-Founder and CEO of ZipRecruiter. “With 75 percent of organizations now recruiting talent through social media giants like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, our one-click social recruiting feature was an obvious next step.”

One-click social recruiting comes at no cost to ZipRecruiter members and gives employers a simple solution for broadcasting open job opportunities throughout their social networks. Employers can also opt to have those announcements automatically re-posted to the social networks at the frequency of their choice.

“Facebook statuses tend to disappear from the News Feed within hours and Twitter posts are gone within minutes or seconds; this is a problem when you want a lot of eyes on your job posting,” explained Siegel. “By re-posting job announcements to social networks every few days, hiring companies not only become more active in their online communities, but they also amplify their reach.”

One-click social recruiting is now available alongside ZipRecruiter’s job posting service, resume database, free recruiter websites, and online screening interviews, adding yet another tool for recruiters and employers to find top candidates fast.
